So, I'm shamelessly creating anoda hijackingpost in this thread.

Bit of an update for the boys and garls on what I am up to at the moment.
My Harley project is on hold because there is only 24hs in the day, and work and Wieteke have priority. So there is only soooo much I can accomplish. Secondly, now that its getting warmer and the salt is disappearing from the roads it would be daft not to put the X1 back together and actually RIDE IT!
So, heads and barrels are back from machining. New valves and guides, compression raised a smidgen to provide crisper throttle response (yet to test that claim), barrels bored out to next size and new pistons.
Head and barrels are now with the vapour blaster to get the old powder removed. Then they'll be painted with Por-15 engine paint. The rest of the engine is all cleaned and degreased and waiting for some warmer weather and time to do the painting.
Swingarm, tail unit, headers, cam and primary covers are with the polisher to spank them up. Then they'll get a coat of Por-15 Glisten PC clear coat so that I won't ever have to polish them again. The Glisten stuff is 2-pac clear especially developed for polished aluminium and chrome. It comes with a transparent etching agent that will allow it to stick to the metal and not come off. All reviews I have read praise it, so wish me luck!
Apart from that, well, I'll have a look at the gearbox and the clutch to make sure they are happy and then it'll all come back together. The aim is to have it all done by the end of March, as long as nothing else stands in the way. Will create a new thread once I start painting the engine so you can take the piss!
Later!
