There was talk about carrying it on through the winter but I reckon it would be better to meet up somewhere a bit warmer - a pub maybe that has good and easy access to the motorway network and is also already bike friendly. Please put any sensible suggestions HERE

So what do we reckon chaps??? First Wednesday is tomorrow - what about meeting in the Admiral Drake - bike friendly, easy to find and round the corner from BlackRag so he cannot possibly have any excuse

Well the Southern Softies meet up is usually the 2nd Wednesday in the month, but instead of cancelling it, why not move it to the 3rd Wednesday, and have TWO bike meets in the summer?? Usually perfect riding weather and a good excuse to get out on the bikes...

I'm with Jill on this one. Anywhere east of the Test introduces limiting time factors for me, even in the summer.
Anyway, me passport's getting full ;)

Have an update......was talking to a local bike rider in the know....big BMW with lots and lots of gizmos....fancy paint job and on board computer communications...liked them... and was told that the monthly meet would not go ahead this year...possibly next if things settle down, but they (his club) would make it very very hard to even get into Pompy on a bike on said evening.....as there is only 3 ways into Pompy they pretty much can cover that........... So any suggestions peeps, 2 nights is not really a problem but where is the factor.......put ya thinking caps on, one suggestion said to me is the Admiral Drake, very bike friendly might get the locals out as well normally 50-60 bikes there......cant tell who suggested that one..... :shut: it means that I wont be on a bike as only 100yds from me :ner: :ner: :sad1:

Over to you lot...did like the meet where there was more to look at as well as chatting to you :ner:

what is it about the biking community that leads to a few total n*b-heads f*king things up for the the rest of us ?

sometimes bikers are their own worst enemies.

Do you know what this is all about, BR?
Who are 'they' to stop bikes (or any traffic) using the roads? :Dummy:
Almost worth organising a huge turn-out of everyone who can lay their hands on a bike, and tipping the rozzers off, just to see their egos crushed...... Who the hell do they think they are?

Just to add a serious note. The local council has withdrawn the Car Parks "availability for use" so, for this year at least, there wont be a meet on Wednesday nights. They are "thinking" about the availability for next year but reading between the lines, it should get the go-ahead.
I can't say no more on the subject (like a few others' in the know) but it's going to be an interesting evening not to be missed.

Psycho.

The Council have not withdrawn the 'availability for use'. They have not yet received an application from the organiser(s) to use the car park; if it had been received, then permission would have been certainly granted. The Council is in favour of it continuing in the previous format and have received no complaints regarding the event. I understand that at last night's full PCC meeting, the matter was raised and following discussion, an application form has now been sent to last year's organiser(s).
This information is direct from a Councillor who also happens to be a keen biker who attended most of last year's meets. He was very interested to learn that there were threats to "...make it very very hard to even get into Pompy on a bike on said evening..." (quote by Blackrag) and concerned that "...it's going to be an interesting evening not to be missed..." (quote by Psycho).
So please will those who "... can't say no more (sic) on the subject (like a few others' in the know)..." please divulge what they 'know' so that those of us who may just happen to be on a bike in the Portsmouth area on Wednesday 6th April can be prepared.
