:hehe:

The X1 pipe needs cutting to clear the frame rail on the M2 frame. It's still a tight fit.

A dogs dinner? Are you questioning its pedigree, chum?

Looks like the seat and sidepanels are borrowed from a Ducati Monster. Possibly the only bit I don't like and work far better on monster, although the rear light looks a bit squinty as well.

Absolutely !!
However, it is his bike and he can do with it what he wishes too ...
But I was more amazed at the pro brigade, in light of the derision handed out to previous owners attempting to modified their bikes.
I guess had buell built them a little better .....

By all means bastardize a Buell but do it well !

although one does wonder by what criteria and experience you define "built better" ?

Well, perhaps bolting them together professionally and using a QC dept for starters
And then there is the quality of the components
Or has there been some sort of revisionist re-writing of the past?

Well, you say that and I have always said that too but my nearly 10 years / 64k-mls old M2 has already survived two garage mates (Africa Twin and TDM 850) and I bet will still run & look as beautiful as ever once my brand new recent addition (TDM 900) will have bitten the dust. And we all know that looking beautiful is not an easy achievement for a yellow M2 lOl
