Just got back from East Kirkby, it was the Wolds run to-day, lot of old classic bikes and even older guys riding um lOl had the Honda CB750 K1 there not a bad day out, very windy though, but the lancaster was having work done on one of its engines, when they did run it it was still un-covered, and I dont think they give it the beans......But at the rear of the hanger there a 3 new merlins srink wrapted ??
wonder if this is a part of the plan to get the thing flying?? I hear'd they want 3 million to get it in the air.....

Have a good day out...woody.

Yesterday's strong winds meant the BBMF Lancaster was grounded at RAF Coningsby, but we still had a great day in Lincolnshire. The P51 Mustangs put on a brilliant display and sounded gorgeous with their superchargers whistling away as they banked and turned. A Harvard trainer also put on a good display.

There was plenty to see at the Aviation Centre with various WW2 vehicles and related displays helping to give the day its unique American flavour.

You'll be glad to know that East Kirkby's Lancaster now has all four Merlin engines working again.

It might have been an American Air Day but our Guzzi's flew the flag for Italy....

CJ I believe that the whistling comes from the air flowing over the open gun ports.

At least that is what I was told at Duxford last year.

Oh, you might well be right. Gun ports or supercharger, it does give the Mustang a unique sound :P....
