Just got a new laptop and went to put ECM spy on it. Went to the download and it said link broken. Went to ecm spy website and it says closed in big red writing across the front of the page. Whats that all about????

There has been some "disagreement" about the rights,development and usage of ECMspy by certain persons in USA ( being used for commercial use ) so the original developers have withdrawn it.

I have seen a torrent of ECM spy but it wasnt the last one issued. Could that be of use?

There are multiple torrents of ECM Spy out there (I looked when I heard ECM Spy had been closed). Sadly for Gunter and the development team, now that ECM Spy is out there on Torrent peer to peer networks (I guess) it will never be removed from circulation entirely.

Sure you can use your copy. If you lost it due to a harddisk crash or so, just send me a mail. What we didn't want was to put any effort into support any more, so we removed it. If people are happy downloading some software called Ecmspy from some servers and trust this software enough to tinker with their ECM, then I don't mind. It's their bike and their ECM, and they are old enough to decide on their own.

Seems to be the right time to upload some "enhanced" version to piratebay ...

The 2008+ models are not supported. Some early DDFI-3 ECMs did partially work with a previous version of EcmSpy, but with the most recent ECM firmware updates, this capability is lost too.
