my XB9R is not well at all. it starts ok and intermittently runs ok, but more often than not, misfires, goes off a cylinder, wont rev up at all and generally runs like a bag of shite! will it be the ecu? any ideas?

Check your earth to the engine for corrosion (under the airbox there is a bonding strap across the stabiliser bar) and a TPS reset would be a good idea too.
ECMs generally work or they don't on individual circuits (or the are just dead).

Dont forget to check the plug leads. Chaffed leads on XB's are very common but this normally shows itself when riding in damp or rainy conditions, still worth checking
