Well mine has definitely "gone", indicators are flapping like budgies wings. If I put a crow bar in the top to take up the slack then alls fine, normal vibes!. Question : where can I buy a new rubber?, or I e been thinking of converting this to a "solid mounting" any body done this or what problems can you see arising from a solid mount . Any imput ?, cheers Matt

Should be available through any dealer but best for postage will be blackbear..... what model Buell? ......I wouldn't have thought solid mount would be a good idea as it'll put all the vibrations straight into the frame ..........you'll end up with more than flappy indicators then ;)

With a crow bar taking up the slack there are normal vibes, can't find a new rubber in Cornwall !!, wondered if anyone had converted to solid

If your talking an xb,,,,,, I made a plastic ring on a lathe for mine to support the rubber while I waited for a replacement to arrive, the ring worked as well as the new part on my old part!

It is all I would do now, in fact I put the ring on the new one, it limited the engines influence on the rubber in the up&down motion, bike felt fine.

Sportsters had rigid-mounted engines up til 2003 I think... I didn't find my old '99 model too bad until it got up to 70 or 80 mph, then there were some pretty strong high frequency vibes through the bars.

If you've got a tube frame Buell, the factory front mount is a bit of a known weak point... It's subject to forces from engine vibes and the rear suspension, so solidly mounting it to the frame would further increase the stresses in the mount I should think... :?

Oh :oooops:

I dunno if the XB's suffer from mount failures like the tubers do? I've never heard of one anyway...

Sometimes I notice my M2 feels a little bit harsh for the first mile or two, and I get more vibes through the footpegs especially... someone on here once had a theory that if the rubber mount and isolators are cold, they're a bit stiff til they warm up so they don't, um, isolate as well :?: ... If that's the case I woulda thought you'd definitely feel more vibes with a solid mount, but then Nate reckons not, so... er... I'll shut up now... lOl

After a fair bit of experimenting, I found the " snubber" was missing, a small piece of tough rubber solved the problem !!!

Dunno,I did not mean make the isolator solid! Just support the rubber betwixt the ally housing and the flanged bolt. It's motion wants to shear it off the center bush to which it is bonded. The bonding in my humble opinion will only take so much!

Matt St A. was talking about making a solid mount, so I thought you meant that's what you'd done!
