Wow, such DRAMA, I need to check in more often. I have been caught in the sausage grinder here a couple of times, and got my feelings hurt, but in the end it was nothing, and I deserved the tweaking, no harm done. With this many people online together, it would be silly to think we could all get along.

Mr. Maz,

I have never asked you a question directly, but indirectly you have solved a host of small issues I have experienced with both my Buells. For this I thank you, a reliable source of advice and experience is a very hard thing to find, espescially since H-D has made us all orphans. Best of luck, and have no fear, the day is coming when I show up completely frustrated with my S3 or the Uly and desperately need direction. Thanks in advance. :worthy:

And anybody else who has something smart to say, or feels the need to put me in my place...do your worst, but know this. I've got two ex wives so the bar is set pretty damn high. :hehe:

Valerian, I had a long chat with Maz on the phone from Skipton regarding keeping my bike (a Uly) or getting rid as I'm emigrating to Portugal. He was most helpful and anything but patronising!!

never mentioned the word patronising

for the last time i hope
the issue was not and was never a slight on the guys technical expertise, or knowledge of buell's

it was about being condescending

the end

That's fair comment Valerian.......but I'm allowed to be condescending because I've spent a very long time dealing with Buells and their owners.......I instinctively know, when asked certain questions, that most of the time, whatever answer given will result in wasted time/effort and ultimate failure for the recipient

fair enough

i think in the case of owners like me who have only had buells a short space of time though, its reasonable to have to repeat things u have probably said a million times, which i imagine can be 'annoying' but that is the nature of forums

I'm not very technical, Valerian but I have people working for me who are and I have an 06 XB12X. Experienced the same thing and we fitted fork springs from an 07 model (which are tri-rate rather than dual rate) and obviously changed the fork oil. Did the trick for me with thirty years in the motorcycle trade and about the same with Buells as your pen friend lOl

Hope that helps.

Steve

I think that's the sort of answer Valerian (or anyone) deserved; humble, helpful, informed, experience based (and with absolutely no hint of condescension). :yup:

Ant 69, sorry for not getting back to you earlier but am 6000 miles away so 6 hours ahead. Think Maz answered for me. Having said that my Ulysses has been very reliable. I want to keep it but my mechanic skills are limited to changing plugs, oil and filters. Spain! Where? If it's anything like Portugal it will cost you 600 Euros to reregister your Buell. Another reason for me to sell. Also who the hell would service my Buell? I won't mention names but I had bad experiences with 2 independent Buell 'specialists' in the London area. Portugal's loads cheaper than Spain by the way...
