I thought that this may be of interest to anyone building a special or modifying their bike.
Forget the Old Wives' tales, these are the facts.

Not valid here - not even a mention of bribery.

Just my opinion...maybe an idea to ask around other contacts ( who have customising experience ) re the degrees of attitude by your local emohtee station . I think the attitude is variable.

Totally agree, I've dealt with one MOT man in the past who has been a bloody nightmare.

Personally, I've never had any problems getting an MOT. I do actually have to turn up these days and twenty minutes waiting for the computer to time out is a pain, but the banter is good. ;)
Out of respect, I always fit a full size plate, just in case I get pulled on the way out.
Remember folks, if you have a friendly MOT tester, don't come on a public forum, naming them and singing their praises. You will do them (and you) no favours at all.

I well remember taking my M2, with its V&H, for mot when I first got it, worried about the noise and if he would fail it. The tester came out, looked at it and asked if he could have a ride on it. I said yes, of course, and he jumped on without a helmet and took it round the block. And surprise surprise it passed ;) And my customer loyalty has never wavered..........
