I'd prefer to keep the bike in the UK (one day there'll be none left!) but not £1500 prefer

I see they're also forbidden from selling to commercial repair shops (i.e. independents) or other merchants re-selling products "either in the US or overseas". Seems as though HD are determined to keep servicing in-house, and I wonder if this applies (or is likely to apply) to dealers over here selling to independent specialist shops.

I also wonder whether, if this has the effect that HD apparently desire, modern HD dealers are mentally prepared for an influx of smelly, oily old kuckleheads and panheads into their pristine service areas, and whether they'll know what to do with them if they do appear.

It would be illegal in Europe.......not that petty laws have ever stopped H-D before

I'm surprised it's not illegal over there, Maz. They're normally big on curbing restrictive practices - "downright unamerican!"

It may well be illegal in the US as well, but that wouldn't stop HD !

I really cannot understand this piss pot company Let`s not forget, they are a very small company. Usually small companies have to provide a good customer service, it is what they rely on for future custom.
Thankfully most US companies realise this and are an absolute delight to deal with.
I recently bought an old Mack truck, the company is sending me, free of charge, all the service manuals for the model. They also provided me with a list of parts suppliers world wide and asked me to contact them directly, if there was anything they could do to help me, if I was experiencing difficulties in obtaining parts.
And my Mack cost the quarter of a the price of a new HD Electraglide.

Difference is, that Mack are proud of their heritage and will do all they can to ensure it survives, even though they are now owned by Volvo Trucks.

Fuck HD and the horse they rode in on. This has made my mind up about selling my HD.....The bastard is going soon.

It doesn't seem to have stopped one excellent US dealer selling old stock parts to UK
