Right, now i'm back off me break back to business...

My air scoop has arrived and basically is the dogs. The build quality and finish is awesome, very chuffed. Hopefully be fitting in the next week or so will update then.

The manufacturer of the scoop is Pegasus Customizing based in the Netherlands. I have to say, Rob is a top bloke. I emailed him from finding an article about fitting scoops. He emailed me back and apologised for it taking a day to get back to me as he was at a show. Delivery is 24hrs. Price with P&P 188 Euro. As I said finish is fantastic, I don't put shit on my bikes so its a good sign.

He also does other parts, crash bung set up / fat bar kit. If anyone wants to contact him he's available at :- r.crins@gmx.net

Attached is a pic of the scoop.

Right, fitting wise, looks fairly simple. (Even comes with instructions)

Basically you fit it from the back first and line it all up using the original screws. The front part again uses original fittings but only utilises the one hole (!) and is supplied with foam so not to scratch the frame or anything. Looks very easy. Only had a very quick look. Think the only problem will be getting my mitt into the front of the scoop to tighten the bolt. May have to train a hampster or something if all else fails...

Will hopefully do full fit tomo and take some pics before and after...

Right, fitted the scoop today. Basically took about 3 to 4 mins using original screws. PArt fitted like a dream, looks the nuts too.

Front scoop screw not too fiddly really as I could just about get my hand in enough to turn the screw then used a short allen key.

Job sorted. Photos will be stuck on at some point, camera died.

Onto the tensioner...

Hope I'm not pissing on anyone's chips with this but I have been searching for a right side scoop for mine and the wife's and we found this. Not bought one yet because I thought they looked expensive, but it seems not!

Just double check it fits cause I think the headers changed shape on the later models. Looks good too. Think mine was less than that tho.

Can report that after a fair few ride outs you can feel the difference and the part has give me no issues whatsoever.

All good

:yup:

Hi Guys,
I bought that FS one from TWIN - while it looks ok. Its smaller than the Left hand side.

I've a 2008 model XT....there are two separate scoops - on for 2007 and earlier and one for 2008 and later...I have the correct one for my bike.

One point to note on the FS one from TWIN that I have is that there is no pre-drilled front mounting hole on the scoop. So you somehow have to offer the scoop up and mark a place for the hole - then take it off, then drill the hole, then put the scoop back up and with your midget hand somehow get a screw in to secure it and then tighten it - then hopefully you marked it correctly and it site ok ???????????

Needles to say I havent done it yet.

How are you suppose to do this ? I was thinking of somehow wedging a stub of a pencil into the mounting hole and then as I push the scoop to it , it then marks the hole position - EASIER SAID THAN DONE !!!

When I bought my XT (new) I had the HD dealer fit the rider comfort kit...but it came with the worst looking squarish small scoop on the RHS...terrible looking.

Stinkerbill, have you any pics of your RHS scoop fitted ???

Thanks.
Eric.

Can anyone confirm it will be really detrimental to fit two nice shiny stainless grills to my air scoop intakes? Is the engine cooling really going to suffer from a slight difference in differential pressure?

I wouldn't do it here, but I reckon you'd get away with it in Scotland lOl

Are you suggesting our Buell fashion police are less strict than "Daan Saalf" or merely stating it`s feckin` freezing here?

After living North of Aberdeen for 7 years I am suggesting that there are no fashion police of any description in Scotland, and yes, it's feckin freezing there lOl

Nice scoop Bonzo - is it still a bit smaller than the LHS scoop ?

I've a RHS Free Spirits scoop to fit....it looks like the pegusas one on the other thread BUT and a big BUT....the front mounting hole needs to be marked and drilled......and marking it correctly is looking tough !!

One of these days I'll have a go at it.......

Eric.
