UKBEG members who are based in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire or the East Midlands may be interested in our suggestion that over the Winter period we hold a regular series of informal meetings at the Mablethorpe Sand Races.

Location and event details: here

If you've never been to the sand races before you won't be disappointed - there's usually a good selection of machinery and engines being thrashed around the beach. Based on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, the Mablethorpe area has some great roads.

It doesn't cost anything to watch the racing and the seafood is simply delicious :P..

We won't be going to every sand race meeting shown below but we aim to attend at least one per month.

2011:
Sunday 13th November. 8:30 am sign on. Racing paused at 11-00 am for Remembrance Sunday.
Sunday 27th November. 8:30 am sign on.
Sunday 11th December. 8:00 am sign on.
Monday 26th December. 8:30 am sign on. Boxing Day Trophies.

2012:
Sunday 22nd January. 8:00 am sign on.
Sunday 12th February. 9:30 am sign on.
Sunday 26th February. 9:30 am sign on.
Sunday 11th March. 9:00 am sign on.
Sunday 25th March. 8:30 am sign on.

Racing will start about one and half hours after rider sign on times, depending on wind and tide, finish time unknown.

This coming Sunday (13th) has a good* weather forecast so we'll be there around lunchtime. Our mobile number is 0792 626 5582.

* fingers crossed :D...

Wouldn't miss it. We'll be there as usual. :D

I just looked back over the pics, and thought you might like to see the album from 2009.

As it's a day for remembrance, maybe we could all remember Big Phil, who was there on that run.

Looking forward to seeing loads of you there this Sunday :yup:

See you Sunday, John...

Remembering Big Phil as we tuck into fish & chips is a good idea.

Will one be riding ones new, red Italian motorcycle? If so, we'll try not to dribble and drool too much :P :P ....

And a :4roz: to you too.....

It'd be good to see both of you again, Claire, I think it was a rather soggy Em's Day back in July when we last met up.

Kev - we'll understand if you look tired and keep yawning.

At the moment here it's overcast, misty with drizzle, hardly a great start to the day but at least it's reasonably mild for the time of year. Hopefully it'll improve later on but for now it looks like a case of 'have waterproofs, will travel' :( ....

Well thats me out...up early and ready to go at 8am, bike would not start..finally traced to corroded earth connection. The sun has just come out so Rutland water today instead of the salty sort.

Damp & murky ride down was soon forgotten as it was warm & sunny all day at Mablethorpe. :sun: :sun:
Rode in with CJ after pausing to pay our respects at a memorial service in Withern, then enjoyed some great racing and equally great fish & chips with Rick & Tigs - followed by an ice cream in memory of Big Phil. Great, great ride home over the wolds in the late afternoon sun, lovely day.
I seem to have purchased the world's most amazing bike. Fact. 8-)

I'll second that, John, it was indeed a grand day out, even if the weather was less than perfect for the ride to Mablethorpe. It was lovely and sunny at the coast and dry for much of the ride back.

It was good to meet up with John (Digger) and Kathryn, plus Claire (Tigs) and Rick. It's been a while since we've had a little get together like this - thanks for coming along guys.

There was the usual great selection of machinery racing on the beach and our fish & chips went down a treat - perfect. We're looking forwards to our next meet at Mablethorpe, although I doubt it'll be as warm as today.

What a super day out. It was so good to catch up with CJ, JJ, Digger and Kath again. Such a shame Richie and Kevmean couldnt make it. Diggers bike is indeed delicious ( I was almost tempted to lick it ;) ). The fish and chip went down a treat and of course with Bigphil watching us we had to have the obligatory icecream.

Nothing can beat meeting up with good friends whatever the weather but the sun shining was the icing on the cake :4roz: :4roz:

Ice Creams at the seaside - a perfect way to remember Big Phil. 8-)
