Errrrrrrrrrrm! Why? Unless you are a total speed freek I would have thought the standard front disk is more than powerfull enough for most mere mortals.

I had cause to grab an especially big handful of X1 front brake last summer when some cretin in a white van stopped dead in front of me without indicating as I exited a roundabout doing about 30 mph and the bike almost somersaulted before spitting me off.

I noticed a slight twist in the forks when I grabbed big handfuls of brake (which I quite liked) Maz pointed out it would wear the fork internals out quicker.
Whats wrong with wanting to stop quicker anyway :?:

I found that braking with twin Brembos was far more linear. Seems to start braking with less finger pressure (though this can be the M/C, I suppose) and is less on/off - I notice weight transfer (nose dipping) far less - so much so I was able to back off compression damping a fair bit.

Also stops quicker which is a boon when errant deer/geese/hikers appear out of hedges. Some of this may also have to do with fitting a rear brake capable of actually stopping the bike - albeit very slowly.

Nice looking bike that. Is that an S1 tank? also what do you have on the headers? Is it Zircotec?

:yt: I went for a gsxr front end with hagon progressive internals, twin 4 pot nissin's (twin 6pot's is ott) coupled with kagizume racing discs, AST shock and rear brembo.....nuff said :yup:

Hi Mick and Fubar and thanks for your condolences in respect of my altered Millennium X1 spill last year.

The X1 is, as you will know, fuell injected and my replacement tank ( which avoids the usual infill pieces required when removing the bulbous plastic bits from the sides of a standard X1 tank ) is from a fuel injected S3 Thunderbolt.

This looks the same as a late model M2 tank ( but has the necessary internals for the integral fuel pump ) and requires a couple of inches to be cut off the nose of the standard X1 seat prior to having it extended to fit the contours of the replacement tank and then re-covered.

My initial attempt to re-skin my damaged carbon Force Motor Products "Racewinder" air box cover was a bit of a fook up. I ended up with loads of pin holes in the outer resin surface ( a possible chemical reaction between the epoxy resin and the cellulose thinners that I cleaned up the damaged part with or it might just have been air bubbles introduced during the resin mixing process - I have since discovered that the pros get rid of such bubbles with a hair dryer before the resin has cured ) and a bit of subsequent delamination so I have now made up a male mould and will make a new one from scratch when the weather warms up a bit.

The X1 Millennium came with silver ceramic coated headers as standard.

Epoxy quite often leaves pinholes- down to it's low viscosity and high surface tension.Unless you are using a thickened epoxy in which case it probably needs degassing under vacuum after mixing.Also needs curing under pressure-in a vacuum bag.

You can just use polyester resin if you're going to make a new one from scratch,much simpler to use,just doesn't quite have the ultimate strength of epoxy,but is that really necessary for a filter cover?

If you need any help give me a shout,been fiddling with epoxy and carbon,kevlar etc for about 10 years. Just making moulds and new panels for the 1125.
