Hi Guys,
Apologies in advance if this sounds nuts, useless or naive... but I have a keen interest in electronics etc and I've been toying with the idea of a "digital" dashboard for a while
So anyway, it all started when I came across this
Scooterputer . Which is a really cool DIY interface, based on the popular Arduino, able to provide a digital speedo, voltage reading, sms-triggered GPS tracking system... total overkill, expensive, but cool as
More researching and I landed on the
Portable Dashboard. Simpler, originally
made for HD's, but still too expensive at ±$320
Nonetheless, while reading about it I noticed that the component used for passing the data from the ECM to an Android handset is nothing more than a Bluetooth
OBD-II Scan Tool.
More research + the fact that the "Portable dashboard" above works with what seems to be a regular OBD-II scan tool for cars, leads me to believe that any scan tool could work (connector hacking aside) with the Buell's ECM.

use the existing Android apps (i.e.

- Read/reset error codes
- monitor speed, RPMs, engine temp
etc.
Does anyone know if I'm talking s**t? What protocol does the Buell's ECM use?
