Any S1 owners out there...

Could someone tell me the following measurements?

Height of A and B
Width of C and D

Also the diameter of the headlight too.

just want to see if it'd cover the Uly's headlight unit width/height or it it's too narrow/short

Thanks!

I can lend you a flyscreen, headlamp, clocks and bracket if you like...

I wouldn't mind them back one day though

Cheers

Nick

Ash has the mount for the bracket, I am sure he will send it in to you...

So massive kudos to Pash - he lent me a few S1 bits and bobs to try out on the Bomber.

I've decided to stick with the stop setup, but here's a couple of pics I took while messing about with it all.

Personally while I like the S1 front, in the flesh it didn't really fit with the rest of the XB style. You can also see from above that the wide Uly bars look a bit silly with the narrower S1 head unit.

The other issue was that I'd have had to have a few bits made up, like a bracket for the ignition barrel and then had to buy a lot of parts... headlight, brackets, dash bracket, new clocks, sped compensator... a lot of money for a cosmetic change.

The other option was to use the stock flyscreen/casing cut to fit around the single spotlight, but as you can see from this mockup (drawn in in red) the flyscreen would sit well back form the light and look very odd...

So again, massive thanks to Pash for lending me the bits, but for now, I'll be sticking with stock

Now... to design new matt silver decals to go on my new matt black scheme...

Stage 2... new handlebars.

Image

Rizoma 'high' bars. They're about 1 inch lower than stock, so with my Rox risers (2") they give me a 1" rise from stock, but look lower, especially with no crossbar.

I've taken the hand guards off for 'summer' and fitted my Tuono mirror for now as the Rizoma bars have a 13mm inside so I'll need new bar-ends... I kinda like the Tuono mirrors though... might keep them in place of the bar-end mirror had

Went for a 'test ride' and took some more pics...

Thats looking awesome, anyway to get the engine casings the same colour as the body work, that would look very dramatic

Yeah I agree - I'm planning on taking off the primary cover to coat/paint it black... at some point!

I hate to say I told you so so I won't ;) . But we all know matt black makes everything a bit special. Now stick the S1 light and screen on to complete the job and it will be stunning.

You should have had a job in the Buell styling dept.

I wonder how well vinyl wrap would stand the temp of the cases? maybe easier way to experiment with colour without damaging original or having to dismantle ;)

I was thinking about carbon-effect wrap for the air box and flyscreen... jut didn't really get very far. Spraying was easier :D

To wrap the primary cover you've pretty much have to take it off anyway I reckon
