WOW!
I decided to see if the fuel low light works by running the fuel down(I usually do, but my runs recently have meant filling up beforehand). Half the mileage was taking it easy(!) and half bombing down the A303.
Result was nearly 200 when the light came on and I run it to 220 (to get to a garage - I was lost on some back roads!)
The bikes an X1 of 2000 vintage (Ltd edition red stripe) and I'm assuming it's bog standard (I'd love somebody to check it out for authenticity).

Anyway.... is the mileage what everyone else gets...... it's high (and good) imo.

Psycho.

That's really good.
From a quick search it seems an x1 has a 17 litre tank and my Xb12STT (with the bigger SS frame/tank) is 16.65.

The best I've got is 153 before the light comes on - motorway miles on super unleaded.
That's 50 mpg

My bike has a K&N filter and a Tubbs exhaust so is breathing a bit better than standard so will be using more petrols.

The more you burn the warmer it gets.

I must admit there is that... "New Car" phenomenon.... The first tank of petrol will give you more miles than any other after that... but still..... 200.....

Psycho.

Just about to pick up a (new to me) XB12X, 2006, with standard pipe. What kind of tank range can I expect when ridden at legal-ish speeds? I'm hoping to see >50mpg (UK gallons) so if I have it right, I may just be able to stretch to 175 miles before refuelling.

I got 160 from the Ully before the light came on, but that was taking it steady. 125-130 riding quicker but mine was a 08 model so will fuel differently.
I get roughly 140 on the X1 but can get to reserve around 115, hard to tell now as it has a Mikuni fitted so I just fill up at 120.

I have to say that is pretty crap! I'm used to 200 miles before the light comes on but hey-ho.

I'm getting 155 before the light and i've run another 20 before getting to the station, but that is on a freshly rebuilt engine.

My s1wl with mikuni, force winder and 2.5" running just a smidge rich, always on 99 ron super varies massively with its consumption.
While nursing it from north wales to Maz's due to leaking rocker gasket managed a record 54ish mpg.
Ragging round snowdonia :P usually 40mpg.
All depends how your riding, keeping it singing above 5k revs going up and down the box (the correct and proper manner :hehe: ) is gonna use alot more than riding the torque and keeping the revs between 2.5 and 4k and not changing gear much (definately only suitable for running in)
The buell engine IMHO is remarkably efficient considering its relatively prehistoric.

Riding smoothly and not going much above 85 between Bristol and Corby, I got 56MPG. Took about 2 hrs 30 mins.

Riding more 'enthusiastically' on the same journey, I got about 32MPG, but it only took 1hr 35 mins, including a quick stop midway for petrol....
