Riding smoothly and not going much above 85 between Bristol and Corby, I got 56MPG. Took about 2 hrs 30 mins.

Riding more 'enthusiastically' on the same journey, I got about 32MPG, but it only took 1hr 35 mins, including a quick stop midway for petrol....

This sounds better!

My Tiger 955i regularly returned 50mpg+ and once managed 58mpg, two up touring in the Pyrenees. I think I could live with 50mpg from the Uly, ridden undevillishly  .

Thanks for the responses, chaps!
:yup:

Jon

Fuel economy ! Your kind of missing the point with these bikes.
Filter, exhaust, mapped and you'll be lucky to see 135 a tank on a Uly.

All I know is I fill my tank up, re-set trip meter, at about 130 miles the reserve count down starts and I refill.... :D Best way to ride a bike...

my uly never made it to 150 without the fuel light coming on.

i have never run my S3 to reserve, but i did 245km before refuelling recently.

both of them seem to manage between 50 and 55 mpg ridden normally ( well, normal for an old fart anyway ).

My one concern (well one of my concerns) about getting the Uly is not so much the mpg but the range of the rather small tank. I'm used to doing a bundle of miles before I have to stop for fuel and if the Uly manages 50mpg then I reckon it'll be an acceptable compromise. On many occasions I rode my Tiger non-stop for 220 miles and then felt forced into stopping for fuel!

Of course, I'm looking forward to hooning around on the Uly but after all, isn't it an 'Adventure' bike?

Jon

PS On that point, I do hope the seat is up to it

My Daytona 955 was 10mpg more economical than the 1125.

The fuel injection system on the 955 is very efficient compared with every other bike I've owned.

More mpg than yours (costs me less to fill up on the same ride as you) but your tank is bigger or your straw is shorter (you go on to reserve later) :run:

Crazy - it's been fudged from a car system (Sagem) used on Peugeots!

Please don't make me regret selling my Tiger :sad1: :coat: !!

Cheers,
Jon

10% more efficient than an 1125 is still well over 10% less efficient than an XB...

I got 180ish miles from my 1125R on a recent trip to Black Bear, before hitting the low fuel light ...
