Ahh, wait....

I did a test with and without the snorkel on the 05 box. Pressure was higher with the snorkel in place.

I still need to test with the different air boxes...

I thought all the XB Buells took air in from the scoop on the left hand side am I wrong in thinking that?

No, that scoop is to direct air on to the rear cylinder for colling purposes.

This air is to go into the engine to mix with petrol and make the bangs that make the pistons move.

Pre-06 sucks though the scoop
06 and beyond sucks from the gap below the airbox cover (and the grille)

I have an 07 inner airbox fitted to my 9 as it has the nipple to direct the air and the extra hole already in it plus it's not to expensive.
