Fitted a new (well second hand) Stealth exhaust to my '08 Uly XT Saturday and all seems fine .. definitely sounds better and runs fine except for a lot of pops and bangs on the over run now. Should this sort itself out ? Do I need to do a TPS reset ? Different map ?

As Adam says, check for air leaks, however they all do this unless you adjust the mixture when the throttle is closed.

The standard exhaust is very "long", so on the over run you don't suck air back through the exhaust as far.

You can attack it in two ways, either richen the mixture a tad (as you would increase the size of the slow running jet on a carb) or do what I do and pull the fuelling down by 20% at the TPS corresponding to closed throttle, down to about 2500rpm.

Cheers all ... air leaks where ? Considering how much effort it was to get on I don't think there's a gap at the header ;)

If there is an air leak you will feel warm air being blown out. Put your hand near each joint.

I also think, that the stock exhaust has several chambers, which the aftermarket exhausts usually do not have, so every bang goes straight out then and is not muffled as with the stock one.

I've got a stealth ( or as Maz like to call 'em chav pipes ) Ha Ha Ha. On my xb12
and yes they all do that, though it does it a lot less if you use super unleaded and preferably shell rather than tesco's though it does cost a tad more. Hope this helps

I will check for air leaks but it does sound as if it's par for the course .. this adjustment, is that via ECM Spy ? Fun as the pops and bangs are I could live without them

My '09 with a '07 headers and a Remus (quiet baffles in) does this. I didn't like it at first but have got used to it. It is worse with the baffles removed. The oe exhaust used to pop and bang as well.... just more quietly!

Apart from the farting it runs much better with this exhaust set-up.
