I had couple of panniers on mine last summer. Where your rear top strap runs across the plastic behind the pillion seat will scuff the plastic finish. It's a b****** to polish out even with specialist plastics stuff and even on mine now it looks slightly greyed. I haven't tried it yet but you may be able to protect it with some layers of a wide masking tape that will peel off easily without damaging the plastic, but provide enough protection for the trip.

Have you actually tried a decent ride with the wife yet ?.....................It still looks like the bottom front corners of the panniers may get in the way of her legs ;)

Kevmean: We are actually going to put the panniers on the other way round. that way there is enough room....just. but you are right. I only put them on that way to take the pictures... well spotted :yup: give yourself 10 bonus points :P i'm going to put some protcetion over the plastics. I have used that none slip matting in the past and it has worked really well. So will be using it this time as well :yup: only two and a half weeks to go!!!

If you use blue masking tape, (it doesn't stick half as much as white) and tape over everything then you won't skuff it, it will look shit for your trip but so what.
