Managed to pull the mount off today to inspect the head. The remaining bolt was barely hand tight and I guess backed out after first snapped. As I suspected bolt snapped 3mm under flush, leaving about 15mm in the head and zero to get hold of. Will be a swine to get out in situ, but a really don't want to pull the head. Looks like motor has to come out to do that which is a real ball ache.

My garage is like a sauna at the moment.. trust me to pick one of the hottest days of the year so far. After watching sweat drip off my nose for an hour I retreated to the house to cool off

:ill:

Picture of original allen head bolt shows it's nothing like the replacement. I think it's stainless steel so could be a nightmare to drill out. Wish I'd replaced both bolts and the factory mount a lot sooner. I'll have another crack at it when it cools down, and I'm in a better mood :(

Was wondering what the spare hole in the isolator bracket's for?

Head can easily be removed with the motor in situ......although, looking at the manky state of it, you will struggle with those exhaust nuts :)

Spare hole is for a tiebar.......you can clearly see the frame bracket in your 1st pix.
The tiebar was never fitted to M2's as standard but lots of peeps retro fit them.
Those cap head bolts are not standard fitment.

Would love to but the only Buell taxed at the moment is the CR......went out on that last Wed. afternoon and it broke down.....not bad for a bike with less than 800 miles on the clock :)

you wanna get some one to look at it :D

I'm in Canada at the moment in the office, can see bikes cruising through St Johns, Was put in touch with someone that supposedly could find out if I could hire a bike round here. Phoned him yesterday and he said I could just use his no problem!! That's frigging generous. It's a Yamaha 1100 dragStar/ night star thing ...told him to ram it, gay boy :-)

I suspect that his neck of the woods is full of car driving bimblies. N.Wales certainly is :x One such clown decided to follow me into a petrol station near Dolgellau, not long after a high speed overtake lOl He stopped expressing his displeasure with my riding when I put the nozzle of the pump through his passenger window and told him I was going to count to 3 lOl

:yt:
have used kit 1 and they do work ( they can also break if really tight )_
just make sure to use the largest one you can from 1st kit
and OMG never use kit 2. unless you want to machine a countersunk hole or have nightmares trying to remove a piece of broken high carbon steel out of the broken bolt as well

I know it's manky but a lot of that filth is from it's last ride home. The weather and crappy road I hit last bank holiday was a joke. I know the bike needs some TLC use but it'll all get done in good time. Not all of us can afford your rates or want to trek up to Manchester. I'm gonna give it my best shot and failing that pull the head

I know I shouldn't react to that because it's fair comment.......but.....40 quid an hour with parts at cost and no vat, is less than half what dealers charge and I like to think the work I turn out is second to non (plus you get to see it done) :|
