I've tried searching under 'prime' but to no avail so I hope someone can advise on this...

My GF's 2008 XB12SCG pump whines for 2 seconds when you switch the ignition on, then the sound stops. this, to me, is the way it should be like all my other EFI bikes have been.

My 2006 XB12X pump whines for 2 seconds when you switch on the ignition then, instead of stopping, it becomes quieter but continues to whine weakly. This does not seem right to me but there is no problem starting and running and there are no leaks :| .

Can anyone throw any light on this :?: Do I have a fault with the Uly such as a pressure sensor in the fuel circuit?

Thanks,

Jon

Probably chafed cable inside the tank, a common fault. Easily fixed by pulling the pump and insulating the wire with a bit of shrinking tube.

Thanks, Gunter. I'll try that at the next maintenance session.

Oddly enough, I tried it tonight and the pump is behaving itself. I wonder if it was the hot weather in Normandy that caused it? I'll monitor the situation this weekend before I start to panic. Ooooo how I enjoy a good panic :ill: !
