I have joined UK BEG, as unfortunately, the time has come for me to sell my Buell XB12S Lightning. I bought it in May 2011 from a friend who was emigrating, and due to a forthcoming house move/wedding, I now need to find it a new home.

I would argue that this is the best example of an unmarked, totally original, and low mileage XB12S in the U.K. (world?!) My friend bought it from new, but due to a bad accident earlier in his life, when it came to it, he was unable to ride the bike. Consequently, it sat in his garage for 7 years with battery on trickle charge, and having an annual trip out for a new MoT! See below spec/detail/history:

Buell XB12S Lightning (injection model)
'53 plate
Registered 28th Nov 2003.
Red with gold wheels
ONLY 1,200 MILES
One previous owner
Tax and MoT until Oct 2012
Had first service at Guildford Harley Davidson last July
Totally original with original Dunlop tyres and battery
Remus exhaust fitted, but still have original in box with all fittings
Owners manual
2 sets of keys
Old MoTs and invoices

I though I would put on here in the first instance as I would rather it went to an enthusiast.

Please send me a message if you are interested.

Many thanks,

Chris.

I deliberately didn't put a price as it is worth what the market will be prepared to pay. If someone out there has their heart set on the perfect XB12S, then this is the bike.
Given the heritage, condition, and extremely low miles, I am looking for best prices north of £5-6k...

I think you're being optimistic but best of luck.

Extremely low mileage is not an asset, and certainly not worth paying extra for.

Yeah you've no chance getting that kind of money as only a couple of years ago you could buy them for that new.
As for being an asset having low mileage I would disagree as I've just bought a Raptor where the owner had only done 1000 Miles in the past 5 years and I've had nothing but bother trying to get it to run properly until I had to strip the carbs of it as they were all gunged up because the bike hadn't been used properly.

I don't think what you could buy a brand new bike a couple of years ago has any influence on what a bike is worth now ............ that was two years ago todays value of anything is purely down to supply and demand .....there are less and less Xb's available in the uk now due to their export to Germany so if there's still as many people wanting them as there would have been if the Germans hadn't taken them then the value will be slightly higher now. How a vehicle has been treated is probably more importent than purely the milage .

Personally I wouldn't advertise the fact it's got 9yr old tyres on, that's 300 notes to sort out. Bet they are well oxidised now be like wood!

I've been looking for an XB12 for a while now, but at what you're after, I wouldn't even bother making an offer.
'Spect one of our German friends will be in touch though!

Dude, no offence and I wish you the best of luck, but if you want a chance of actually selling the bike, you need to understand that your guide prices are WILDLY optimistic.

Do a search on eBay of 'completed listings' and see what they've been making, not what they've been listed at... you'll see that XBs listed over £5k just don't sell.

I think you'll be looking around £4k... and maybe a little under.

Just trying to manage your expectations.... again, good luck with it though!

Many thanks for all your constructive feedback.
I am going to upload some photos this weekend, and will then advertise on ebay.
The consensus seems to be that £5-6k may be a little optimistic, so will lower my expectation somewhat...
Thanks again All...

If around £4K, and piccies look OK, then I may well be interested.
