Good points there WILLYBUELL. Another issue is that the action of gears breaks down the polymer chains in oils? I read somewhere that this is why the first Minis with their combined engine gearboxes mashed the old style oils originally used, which advanced the development of multigrade oils.
I confess to probably wasting money on gear oil changes on my Buell as I am fortunate in rarely having to do short rides. However, I am also slightly paranoid about the HD Sportster derived motor, which has a reputation (real or exagerated) for knocking out gearboxes.
Still, someone out there must know more about gear oil alternatives for Buells or why Formula+ is so good....or if HD Synth (or anyone elses) is better?
