Crikey Norrie......you're such a little ray of sunshine....

As it happens the owners of Uly's on here seem to have a better experience of Buell reliability. I know of several (including my own) that have never so much as missed a beat. :yup:

Chain drive.
Proper wheel bearings with proper spacer tubes.
Bigger head bearings.
Better loom.
Better relays.
Totally new gearbox where the design team get longer than ten minutes to think about it.
Horizontal split cases.
One big injector.
A fan that blows cool air on the rear pot.
Proper discs on the front wheel.
Better front isolator.

Alot more dosh now they tooled up for the present.

Bloody shame tis.

Maybe the engineers and accountants at Buell have got it off to a fine art  .......perhaps it's cheaper to provide 2-3 emulsion painted mild steel mufflers for each bike sold, than it is to make 1 stainless version ?.....especially as most owners will opt for an after market version anyway.
Maybe it's cheaper to provide wheel bearings and belts under warranty for 2 years than it is to re-tool etc. ?
The engineers have definitely cracked it, as most major component failures occur just outside the warranty period

My Uly has done 21K now (just coming up 3 yr old) hasn't really missed to many beats apart fron the frigging bearings I am well pissed of with keep having to change them. Oh and the stripped front header stud that will need an engine rotate to sort (thanks Riders)

But there you go

enjoy whilst not replacing bearings

Just wait until you have to replace the LH crankshaft main bearing and the clutch basket bearing (BTW they're already knackered )

Since 1983 all Buells have been unreliable, high maintainance, bags o' shite....some will call this character, enthusiasts bikes, whatever.....the difference is that anyone with a pair of molegrips and a basic understanding of motorcycle maintainance could spanner a Buell up until the advent of Buells 1st disposeable 'Bic Razor' model in 2003.
Half the fun of owning a tuber is keeping it on the road......this process will continue indefinitely because it's cheap and easy to do 8-)

Classic. So with the XB it's evil corporatism and callous unwillingness to build a decent bike. With a tuber, it's all jolly good Famous Five-style fun.

Wish you could hear yourself, sometimes, Maz.

Watson 77 Bet you're glad you asked for advice now, the best advice you can get is not to ask for advice and do your own thing.
