Pash; I am considering playing with the gearing on X1 Lightning and you might have the answer to the many questions that go with this train of thought.

My motivation is related to the speed limits here in OZ.
In a built up area, 60k (35mph)3300/3400 rpm in second gear or 2200 rpm approx in third.
I feel like a boofhead roaring around at the preferred rpm (3300) And I hate chugging along @2200 because It's bad for the motor.
The open road gearing is no problem,Plenty of places out here to go for a blast as you probably know.
I'm not sure what the difference between European gearing verses US gearing is but was hoping you might enlighten me.
Thank you for any advise about this, you might be willing to share.

European gearing = 29/55
USA gearing = 27/61.......this is how these bikes were meant to be, really wakes them up and makes town riding a pleasure

Euro gearing is 29/55
US gearing is 27/61

You could easily work the revs out at a speed, but the bike was originally designed for US gearing, the bike feels more spritely but you still have enough of a gear to make motorway speeds comfortable.

My advice would be to try it, some people like one pulley from each set, it's a personal choice, but I, as well as many others, am sold on full US gearing.

Basically, can't explain, therefore get some and fit it...

......and you'll need a new speedo or a 'speed healer' on an X1 if you change the gearing.

Was looking for Engine RPM in second/third gear with the USA gearing @35 Mph.(60k)!
Guess Pulleys are easy way to go.
I was dreaming about having a spare set of gearing.
I have a Dakota digital speedo adjuster, Hard to hide,looks ugly.
Anyway,Cheers for taking the time to answer.
