If you buy the >04 Sportster heads, they're the same as XB heads except they come drilled and are black/highlighted fins.

Edited to say- you need to use flat top lightning pistons with these heads, ie not thunderstorm pistons. I used them on my 97 M2.

If you use the xb rocker covers you don't need to use the breathers on the side of the head....or is it just that you need to use the holes to mount the carb/throttle body?

I did mine myself. You need to spot face the casting as well.

Position of the hole is not too important, i.e. kinda in the middle is ok then tapped 1/2" UNC. There are precious little machined surfaces in the vertical plane to pick up on on a head already drilled... If you are getting technical, the height of the hole needs to be measured from the bottom face of the head as the head is about 20 thou shorter than the Thunderstorm or Lightning head however this fades into insignificance if you are pulling the squish down with Cometic type gaskets.

:D
