Sadly I must sell my White Lightning on private plate B3UEL

Its a great looking bike sensibly modified with the usual stuff.

AST shock with white spring
Mikuni carb
Later cable and throttle set up (new cables)
Fresh Conti Road Attack 2's
Renthal bars standard bend
Billet Levers (not to everybodies taste but easily changed)
Billet clock mount
Billet front mount
Billet footrests
Billet Gearchange and rear brake pedal
LED rear light
Vance & Hines Muffler (2")
Customised large bore headers
Metmachex swing arm and brace
Engraved Joker Machine points cover

The Bike has been through the Hands of Maz a couple of times, and has benefited greatly from his input. Work included replacement clutch, replacement rear pulley (American gearing retained) and greasing mod, gearbox selection overhaul, Installed improved breather system.

I have some pictures, not many though.

The bike now sports the original single headlight, when I bought it it had twin headlights, Maz pulled a face at those so ....well he pulled a face at a lot of things and off they came. I cant deny he was right.

Anyhow for a well sorted, appreciating classic I'm asking £6000 but I will listen to offers

Both S1w and Suzuki look great. Amazing how much the old trail bikes go for these days. Good luck with the sale, I hope it goes to someone that truly appreciates it and knows its worth.

,,wish I had a spare £1500,,,, :sad1:

The bottom seems to have dropped out of the 70's trail bike market, in conversation with someone the other day, the realisation was it cost about £2000 to get it up to scratch.

Lovely looking S1, but the TS caught my eye too.
I had one of those when I was a Yoof, one of the best balanced dirt bikes I ever had.
I could wheelie it forever! I had a monoshock DT250 after that, but I could never wheelie it as good as the TS.
The 70's dirt bikes where the nicest looking bikes ever IMO. Especially the twin shock ones. DT 400's, Xt 500's, XL Hondas etc. :yup:
I'd give up a kidney for a twin shock Maico crosser now. But it would probably kill be!
(The crosser not the lack of a kidney!) lOl

I had one of those (with banana swinging arm), enevitably the motor went bang, so I reversed the back wheel and shoved a Suzuki SP 400 motor into it. It made a lovely green lane tool :yup:

Some of the rarer 70's trail and trials bikes are fetching good money, but they tend to be rarer ones like Miller Hondas and Majesty TY Yams. The Bultaco Matador bikes are going for about £3k.
The Yam TY trials that I got cost me £550, but I've had to put big end, mains, seals and a rebore/piston, into it. Recently sent my spare TY motor off to be machined for a stroker, big bore kit (210cc) lOl Still looking for some thicker TY 250 forks+yokes, but they get snapped up or fetch over £200 on Ebay :?
