Don't ride it until it's sorted. Triumph Saints used to suffer from that with the Police spec rotor, but once you heard the noise, it was too late, your crank bearings were history.
If you've not got a torque wrench that goes that high, get a steel bar 240' long and a 1lb weight ;) lOl

Well, that was £150 well spent... kinda...

They couldn't pinpoint the rattle. They tightened the crank nut which he (John) said was a little loose, but not much and evidently not causing the rattle.

Chain was re-adjusted properly too, so not that.

He reckoned it didn't sound like anything ominous, but equally without pulling more of the bike apart couldn't say what it was. He seemed to think it wasn't uncommon

I'm gonna double check for anything external rattling, will keep an eye/ear on it moving forwards, but otherwise I'm gonna just carry on and enjoy riding.

Does the noise change when you pull the clutch in/put the bike in gear ie. stop the box ?
Did the tech check for play in the crank roller bearing ?

sorry for a slight hi-jack, but i did a video a few months ago but you couldn't hear the noise on there, but my buell sounds like the video at the start of this thread.... Mine gets quieter if i pull the clutch in, still doesn't sound right but better, so what does change in noise mean Maz?

Not sure Maz - I'll check when I get home tonight

So put it in gear, then let the clutch out until it bites (with my brakes on)?

(also not sure if they checked the roller bearings or not - he did mention that might be a cause, but didn't say anything about it when I picked it up)

No change if I put it in gear or not. It always sounds wrong, but if I pull the clutch in and just coast it gets quieter, same if I'm stopped and in neutral, pull the clutch in and it's quieter.

Sorry again for the hi-jack.

Nope, just put it in gear with the clutch held in.......this stops the box and clutch hub, eliminating them from the equation.

Just got home and popped down the road where I can be noisy to test it out and I couldn't here the rattle at all anymore

Hmm. I could definitely still faintly here it when I collected it from Warrs.

I'll try again tomorrow from a cold start - that's when it was most noticable

I just noted that on the paperwork as well as "replaced front engine nut and confirmed torque" they've also noted "bearing clutch hub appears ok"

So the noise is certainly still there but much fainter that before I took it in to Warrs

I started it from cold, noise faintly there, put it in gear with clutch in, noise still there - no change.
