Had my stator re-wound last month after 9500 miles on the original, after replacing the reg/rec unit. The re-wound unit burnt out after about 150 miles and has been sent back repair under warranty. I've been told that the company (Westcountry Windings in Essex) will no longer guarantee stators for 1125rs due to the inherent problem and number of repeat failures :headbang: Mine has had the wiring mod with relay fitted quite early but still couldn't prevent stator failure. Such a shame to have to consider changing the bike for something more reliable but unless somebody can come up with a robust solution, it's a real possibilty. Also pretty sad that there is zero back up from Buell/Rotax for what should never be a problem in the first place. Had this been a known fault on a car, most manufacturers would embark on a recall programme to protect its reputation.

As Buell no longer exist they have no reputation to protect ...

... and Rotax will say that all they did was build the motor to the customer's (HDB) specifications, so it's their problem.

And Harley Davidson doesn't give a sh1t ! All they were worried about was repairing the bikes until the warranties ran out ...

... it's going to take somebody to die as a direct consequence before anybody in authority will take any notice. :(

And there is a solution, albeit unproven in the long term -

I have been considering getting mine done at some point.

my cr has just thrown its stator, it was previously replaced alongside the recall harness in 2010, and now wc windings wont rewind it?
what do i do?
the ebr rotor is $425 but am i right in thinking $250 of that is returnable upon receipt of my good rotor, so the real cost is only $175?
if thats correct then thats ok, i can live with that.
but what can i do about the stator, mine seems to have dropped a phase t1-t2 shows no ac output, i did other tests too but everything was fine and my rectifier is good too,
will anybody else rewind it?
and my last question....
does anybody closer to home (liverpool uk) do the oil mod on the rotor yet?
any info would be great
cheers

I have 1 2008 stator and rotor assembly and 1 2009 assembly both working A ok.
I posted an ad months ago,but no one was interested.

A couple of people even told me that as rewinds were available the 2008 set up wasn't worth anything anymore ???? Go figure???

And I can drill the rotor for you.
