just snapped 2nd belt on my Ully at 10000 miles. is this common ie 5000 miles to a belt? Front pulley looks ok, rear one the black coating on the teeth has come off in places so does that need replacing too? it looks no worse than my Nighttrain rear pulley that has 30000miles on it. The ully has a free spirit tensioner, rear wheel bearings ok everything else seems ok. Any ideas or am i just unlucky?

yep you are right there just got to hunt one down now the last one had to come from Holland as UK dealers couldn't get one for SIX bloody weeks.

Very unlucky i would say OR they are being mishandled at tyre changes ................X1 did 25K and 20K on it's belts ....1125 as already done over 11500 on it's belt which is exactly the same pitch but with 50% more available power going through it.

Black bear would probably be your best bet for a belt .....................or Maz if you can get to him to pick it up .

pulley sounds like normal Buell wear

How do you ride the bike? Wheelies and stuff?

Are there indentations in the teeth on the sprocket from picking up stones? Losing teeth sounds like heavy shock loadings rather than foreign object damage.

i'm not a wheelie monster i do ride fairly quickly at times but am not heavy handed. Commute on it and a fair bit of two up riding as the better half loves the Ully. decided to replace the rear pulley as well as it doesn't look at its best to me so better safe than sorry.

Hi.

I still have the used one from my 2006 Uly XB12X. It's in good condition and was only replaced as a precaution before my trip to France in May. I don't have the Uly any more but I was going to keep the belt as a spare for my other half's Lightning until I remembered it's the wrong length .

May be worth fitting for a short while until the new one arrives or if not, it will certainly be useful as a spare to take on longer trips.

PM me if interested. Just want to cover postage and a bit.
