Where can I get one??? I have the strangest feeling that the one on the bike i am getting (assuming it all goes to plan)is ever so slighly f*kced.

I did do a search on here for brake rotor for sale but the results just came back as irrelevant to the XB12XT (ULYSSES) that i MAY be getting.

anyone point me in the right direction or have a spare rotor to fit a 12xt uly????

Oh yeah and its a 2008 model (so im told)

Why do you think it needs a new rotor ? If it's slightly juddery it may just mean the disc requires cleaning

during the course of a little "chat" , it transpires that the history of the bike is known, and that a new rotor will "almost certainly be required knowing how hard he rode it everywhere"......GULP!!!!!!!

Thank you for the advice though judging by the statement above i sort of think that disc/rotor cleaning may not make much difference....

So to reiterate: How much are they, where can I get one from, preferably UK, and has anyone on here got some for sale.....

Don't jump the gun !

There has been a lot of debate on several Buell forums about disc warpage.

Before you buy a new one (and the fitting kit), search the forum and use the hints and tips gleaned.

Take the disc off and clean it thoroughly. Also clean the fitting kit as there are springs between the disc and the wheel which apparently can "gum up" with brake dust and road muck. Lastly clean the caliper as I have read elsewhere that brake dust can build up inside it around the pistons and may cause problems.

Reassemble and test (carefully) !

If it hasn't improved all you have lost is a little time, effort and a few quid for cleaner. If it does improve then you've saved yourself some money.

Lastly, and I cannot vouch for how safe this is, or if it works, if there is no improvement then you could try removing the pad retaining clips as I have seen on another forum that this cured the problem for one rider ...

However, you haven't made it clear if brake judder is the issue or if the disc is just worn out ?

A new disc is approx £350 notes from Black Bear, but if you really were convinced it needed a new disc I bet you are glad you didn't buy that XT now eh?

Just doing this myself, as it was binding a bit in one spot. The torx fasteners were pretty tight, they finally cracked open like bullets going off Any idea what the torque setting is for doing them up And should they be copperslipped, or loctited, or nothing at all

Going to take the opportunity to clean the wheel, 6 years of baked on crap that I could never get at before

Hmm, I've got a new set anyway. Came with the rotor I bought off here a few years ago, for 80 quid, when HDBUK liked us Guess I can order another set before I need to use the new rotor

Surely any change in thread shape of the thread that is used will be shared with the thread form in the wheel...

I would say the direction is there to stop people taking HD to court if they had an accident.

The bolts are in shear, and so long as the cross sectional area has not reduced (and why would it if it was torqued up the same?) the bolts will still be able to work to the same max load.

It's all about keeping it real...
