can anyone help on this matter. having my crank balanced but at ten ton it wouldnt come apart. the press can go to 50 ton but as the flywheels are only cast they may break! anyone ever split the pressed cranks and if so what pressure did you go to?

Ten tons is nothing in 'pressed fit' terms... I've gone to nearly twenty to get a wheel bearing out! (but then it was probably a shitty old Renault)
I have no experience with these cranks though, sorry...

My 12 ton press wouldn't shift the flywheels on my JAP/Enfield when I wanted to fit a new big end (it worked ok on the pin of my TY trials bike when I fitted a new rod) I ended up taking to a factory that my mate works in. I've no idea what pressure they used - but I stood well back

"that aint no normal harley crank you got there" he said 10 kg was fairly light as it was and i cant have it properly balanced because of the knife and fork con rods. because the bit missing in the fork rod, throws the balance for a split second.

shall we go to 15 ton?

As long as it is correctly supported, no problem.

I think the cranks are the same press together affair as rubber mount Sportsters...

......or any guy IMO.....total waste of time/dosh.....so you end up with perfectly balanced flywheels etc........the big end mass around the pin remains the same BTW.....but unless you take into account the rod and piston weight at 45 degrees and the power stokes etc. that a 45 twin makes, it really doesn't matter how well the rotating mass is balanced.......plus you're gonna end up with worn/trashed/mis-aligned flywheels and crank pin by the time nobby has finished messing about with it
