As Kev say's, if ya try and undo the axle while the bearings are seized on the axle you will splay the swing arm and do damage, put a ratchet strap around the swing arm and slowly turn the axle while hitting the swing arm/axle with a rubber mallet, this normally works for me, also use only Copaslip by the moly slip company on re assembly

I've got a large tin of the cheap stuff, but I only use that on the car.......and other peoples bikes lOl

I've done it and I now have the definitive answer to how you undo a seized rear spindle.

1) try it with a normal socket wrench
2) spray some releasing oil on it and leave overnight
3) try it again with an 18" bar on the socket. Swear a bit , hit it jump on it until the socket bar breaks and then swear a lot
4) buy a 2 foot socket bar.
5) spray more releasing oil it, leave overnight and try with the 2' bar. Swear a lot, kick the bike, spray more releasing oil on it.
6) go on holiday to France for a week leaving the bike in a dark garage to think about whether it wants to be ridden again or not.
7) spray more releasing on it and leave overnight
8) get Mrs Bully to hold the bike while I stamp on the 2' bar and suddenly it moves.

Easy peasy !!!

Thanks all for the advice. Once it shifted I put a ratchet strap around the swing arm just in case but it was free in the bearing anyway.
I've put loads of copper slip on it when I put it back and also undone the front one and copper slipped that too.

Recently had front & rear tyres fitted locally. From what I've read here, I need to take it back to get the torque settings corrected as they probably guessed them.
What should they be set at?

Too late if they over tightened them as the spacers are already crushed.

Your only hope is to get a torque wrench and hope that they have undertightened them ;)

If the spindle has been over tightened, the damage will already have been done - there's an alloy spacer in each wheel that gets crushed. The correct torque is critical on these bikes ;)
Without looking it up, the torque setting is fairly low, so without knowing what your 'mechanic' tightened them to, the only real check is to remove the spacer and measure it.

Do you sometimes feel like your clothes look even more wrinkled after you iron them? The following tips and guidelines should help make your ironing go more smoothly.

Ironing Time-Savers
•Do your ironing in the bedroom. You'll be able to use the bed to sort your laundry, and you'll have hangers close at hand in the closet.

So what size should the un-damaged spacers be front and rear so I can get them to check and what's the potential damage if left unchecked that I can quote to get them to do the check?

Like i said ...the easiest thing is to get a torque wrench and see how tight the spindles are ....if they don't move BEFORE the torque wrench clicks at the correct setting you can bet that they have been overtightened .....If they do move then you will know they havn't been overtightened and will be good to go ;)
To check the spacers you will have to remove the bearings from the wheels so you will need new bearings to fit at that point anyway so probably best to have new spacers on hand to compare to the old ...if old are still OK you then have some future spares ;)

Potential If you leave them and they are damaged is that the wheel bearings will wear and fail very quickly.

With the disc side bearing installed, the space need to protrude beyond the shoulder at the bottom of the bore for the drive side bearing.

When installing the drive side bearing, it is best to pull it down on the outer race only to the same load as the final torque setting to reduce axial preload when fitted.
