I wouldn't place too much faith in doing a 'plug chop' (ie flat out and kill the motor instantly) with lead free, ethanol contaminated modern fuel.

A long time ago, I had an old Trident that was detonating its fuel instead of burning it in a controlled way. It turned out to be a rogue composite head gasket that had split and a small piece of its wire reinforcement was sticking out into the combustion chamber and acted like a glow plug :headbang: lOl A quick head skim and a solid copper gasket fixed the problem after a lot of hair pulling lOl

completely out of topic, but, how difficult would it be, to make a good running motor just on alcohol, instead of ethanol contaminated fuel???
starting to thinking on distill my own alcohol if the price for gasoline won't drop

My '47 JAP/Enfield runs on Methanol (wood alcohol)

To keep the heat in the motor, iron barrels are best with half the fins milled off, bump up the compression to about 15:1, massive main jet (I made my own - big Amal ones are hard to find) and run a LOT of advance.
Cost wise, alcohol is about half the price of petrol but you'll use about x3 the quantity. For tracks with long straights in them, 4% Nitro in the mix gives significantly more power but puts more heat into the motor, so a barrel with more fins needs fitting.
Dope motors run very cool, so to prevent hard starting an insulated blanket is put over the motor between races to keep the motor hot.

I've read somewhere, that with fuel injection and electronic ignition the main changes to do are the advance and the plastics/rubber to accept the alcohol fuel

With the alcohol not producing as much calorific value as petrol, the compression ratio needs raising sky high to produce the power. Maybe injection gets around this?
Pash is Da Man who would know about this lOl

You will need much bigger injectors plus all the other mods listed by Adam.
