Harley or the dealers?

If you find an independent, they can get you a pattern one for a lot cheaper.

You could even get one from here for half the price of HD:

I was picking one up for someone else as I was at Black Bear Harley's open day, I also would not have paid that amount and looked elsewhere!
But the point is Harley seem happy to rip people off.

You know exactly what you did wrong.

You said the "B" word in a HD dealership. It's the same here in France barring a few exceptions.

As soon as they realise you're not there for the latest chrome whatsit, or a pair of black & orange underpants, they push a button that disconnects the brain & adds a minimum 30% to a bill.

I generally use TWIN Motorcycles or ASB as a first call, can't remember the last time I bought parts at a dealers.

Fear not it could be worse.

My front tyre valve stem started leaking the other day on the M2, so I dropped the wheel out & took it to my local independent bike dealers, & asked them to stick a new one in.
All they had to do was break the bead, push the tyre over & change the valve.

€33.60; kerching.
It's the Geneva effect, you're foreign, you live here, you must be loaded, you won't care that we stiff you.

Thank f*** we're moving back to Brittany next year.

You're new here, Mr Grumpy so you won't know that Black Bear was one of the biggest Buell supporters while the company was still trading and appears to be just about the only one now.

I have three Buells of my own, the owner has a 2010 XB12XT which is his regular transport to work (although he did use his 1938 Norton ES2 one day last week 8-) ) and two other members of staff have each had two Buells in the past.

We're committed to supporting Buell owners and, if you mention UKBEG, you will get a discount of 10%. And Pash, you should know better, prices are set by Harley-Davidson and any greed emanates from them. If we have a fault it's that, as a Harley-Davidson dealer, we will always supply genuine parts rather than source them from after market suppliers. Don't see it staying that way indefinitely and I would back up Mr Grumpy's endorsement of Twin Motorcycles who are good friends of many of us on the forum and are working to take over supply of Buell parts when the Motor Company steps away completely.

Thanks for joining us on Saturday, gibbsy, and don't forget to mention UKBEG next time :yup:

Steve

Problem is that I don't know any better. For the record, what is the markup?
