We've received UKBEG's invitation to Silverstone 2013 Moto GP, WSB and BSB:

We'll definitely be organising a UKBEG club 'stand' at WSB and BSB but we don't think there'll be enough interest for Moto GP. As this year we have to achieve a minimum of 10 tickets per event to qualify for these bike club offers.

Before we fill in the application form we need some feedback regarding expected numbers for each event - if possible please let us know before Sunday 16th December.

WSB - August 2nd to 4th, Friday to Sunday.
£37.50 per person - 3-day weekend ticket with roving grandstand seating and free motorcycle parking within internal display area.

Moto GP - August 30th to September 1st, Friday to Sunday.
£75.00 per person - 3-day weekend ticket with roving grandstand seating and free motorcycle parking within internal display area.

BSB - October 4th to 6th, Friday to Sunday.
£18.00 per person - 3-day weekend ticket with roving grandstand seating, access to an open paddock and free motorcycle parking within internal display area.

As part of the package, where available Silverstone will aim to include motorcycle parade laps within the Moto GP, WSB and BSB timetables.

Two tickets for all three for us please, if all three events are still up.
What do people normally do for accommodation?

We've only applied for WSB and BSB - there wasn't enough interest shown in Moto GP.

Regarding accommodation, Jane and I usually stay in a motel, there's plenty of choice within easy riding distance of Silverstone. If you book well in advance they're reasonably priced - which is important if you're from this part of the world :D...

Further to the above^^, we've managed to book our favourite motel :P - the Travelodge Northampton Wootton, which is approx. 15 miles from the circuit. At this time of writing it's available at £21.00 for a double (or twin) room per night for both WSB and BSB weekends:

WSB, August 2nd to 4th, Friday to Sunday.

BSB, October 4th to 6th, Friday to Sunday.

We're staying Friday and Saturday night for each event.

Based on past experience this particular Travelodge seems to the place of choice for many spectators and race team personnel attending events at Silverstone. The motel has free parking and is adjacent to a Toby Carvery bar and restaurant, plus there's a petrol station on site.

Travelodge Northampton Wootton web site: here

FYI - tomorrow there's a 2 hour 2012 BSB season review programme on ITV4, @ 6pm. BSB web site: here

We now have the UKBEG booking codes for WSB and BSB. Last years bookings for Silverstone events went very smoothly so we'll be following the same format this year.

WSB booking details will be posted week commencing 3rd June.

BSB booking details will be posted week commencing 5th August.

:( I guess we'll have to wait and see what transpires. Taken from the 'PaddockChatter' web site:

2013 Silverstone WSBK to be cancelled?

The future of WSBK at Silverstone is looking cloudy...

German motorsports website Speedweek.de are reporting that the 2013 Silverstone round of world superbikes scheduled to take place from 2-4 August is to be cancelled and replaced with a round at Turkey's Istanbul circuit. The article cites lack of funds as the reason for the backtracking of the British venue, this comes a week after it was announced MotoGP would run from the old pit complex when it visits the circuit in September. Silverstone have already started selling tickets to the 2013 round.

This is not the only calendar shake up to be announced after the season has already started, the June 23 "To be confirmed" round could be scrapped, the event was apparently to take place at Austra's Red Bull Ring, however time is running out for a deal to be reached. However, after much speculation and the delaying of the round, the Indian round is confirmed to go ahead in November, according to Speedweek.

This comes after British motorcycle insurance broker and sponsor Bennetts revealed on Twitter they had heard rumours that Silverstone would be replaced by Istanbul for 2014, perhaps 2013. PaddockChatter would urge fans who have already bought tickets to wait until an official announcement is made by Silverstone, Speedweek say this change should be confirmed soon.
