please dont start the bloody mail order thing again. im so pissed of with trying to get parts from anywhere! at least when maz DID do mail order the stuff was with you in a day or two!

That's not entirely true Jill......I pointed out that it wouldn't work because a) you wouldn't have a clue, b)there's no profit in mail order and c) these days it's hard enough getting parts to support my workshop, never mind a mail order 'business'

Just a question Maz....

What's the point of stockpiling parts and saying you have them available if you are unable/unwilling to supply them to those that need them....??

Read above Jill......I keep parts to support my workshop and customers who call in to buy over the counter.
In the good old days, parts were readily available and most were held in stock at the EDC, these days, if I sell a part over the counter and then need to replace it for stock/ bikes I'm working on, two things generally happen........the part is either NLA or has gone to 'vintage' or at best has to come from the States, which takes weeks/months and has invariably doubled or more in price.
Over the last 3 years, I've more than doubled my stock levels to make sure I never have a bike in bits on a lift that has to wait for parts and more than ever, I'm having to have stuff custom made or use inferior after market items

The only reason I made my comment was because every time anyone says they are in desparate need of a particular part, you will 9 times out of 10 pipe up saying you have the bit in stock at "£whatever price", but do not seem to be prepared to post it to them....that can sometimes come across as being rather inconsiderate, especially as you are so well aware of the scarcity of parts. Not everyone lives near Manchester and can collect from you...

I know and appreciate you have a business to run, and that your business depends on you having the parts to fix customers bikes, however........ I hope you understand where I am coming from, eh? I am not trying to pick a fight with you, honest.

It's not rocket science Jill......I am NOT an authorised dealer ie. I have to buy genuine parts the same way as anyone else ie. through a franchised dealer.
I used to have Mcr.H-D on my doorstep and could easily drive there in around 15 mins to collect stock once a week......again, in the good old days when Buell were still going, they used to use my regular orders as a guide to parts they held in stock.
These days my preferred dealer is BB......anything I order from them is no different to anyone on here, BB are excellent mail order suppliers but because their core business is H-D, they dont hold the same amount of specific Buell stuff that I do.
Peeps can be a bit funny......when I did my mail order thing (for 11 years), if I charged more than retail price for a part, I'd get slagged off, even though parts were usually delivered within 24 hours of an order.....postage was aways at cost but no consideration was ever made for the time packing orders up or driving to the PO and standing in line etc........I used to make a substanial loss on MO, not to mention the time taken out of my working day.
If I do the gloating thing because I have parts on the shelf that peeps are having trouble getting hold of, I guess that's just me showing off.......my best advice to anyone looking for mail order parts in the UK is to give Black Bear a call on 01638 664455 and ask for Bean.......dont forget to mention UKBEG
