Has anybody ever seen it for sale at a dealers in larger than 1 quart bottles ?

I was hunting around on the web for the part number when I found on the HD website that they sell it in US gallons over there - I had been told previously that it wasn't available in a larger size ...

http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_ ... cale=en_US

Having said that I am considering getting some of this instead -

especially as they sell it in 20 litre drums !

Just bought 8 litres of it for my 1125s - shame they don't recommend it for my V Rod ...

... with 3 bikes and 2 oil changes per bike per year, I get through a lot of oil.

Don't see it being a problem with the V-Rod because I'm fairly sure it was in the Screamin' Eagle V-Rod as standard. I'll check tomorrow.

Quite! You should look at whats happened in the car world.

My usual favourite mineral oils for my old banger are disappearing 1 by one. Halfords, Comma, Total Quartz 5000. "What? oh that last bottle you bought was the last one we were just selling through. Nobody buys it anymore!"

I have been wondering about all this synthetic malarky because it was originally sold at a premium, and semi-synth now costs nearly as much. Does it really cost more to make, and what do they do now with all that heavy stuff the comes lower down the fuel refining process? Sell it to India and Chinas expanding auto trade?

My little Nova seemed to love Commas reasonably priced enhanced mineral, but this has been replaced by 15-40 'Fleet' oil, which is very cheap. I am reluctant to buy because it no longer says enhanced. What did they leave out to make it so cheap? :?

I don't want to change after 163k so now I'm scouring suppliers for old stock to see the poor little car through another season :old: Wombling free! lOl

I'm sure you're okay with Syn 3 in the V-Rod, SM. Not seen it in black and white but Jon says yes and that's good enough for me :yup:

I know what you mean i've been using castrol magnatec in my audi 169k now and still going strong , also use the Halfords 15W/40 Enhanced Mineral Diesel Oil in the littke diesel pug 90k
may have to revert to using HGV engine oil (supply and demand should mean this will be available for many years to come )

CASTROL XL 20/50 (which is what I use in the Buell) will be available for as long as the classic car brigade want it... just like their other 'Classic' oils incl 'straight' grades...
But no, I don't suppose you can get it in Halfrauds...

A mate who switched to semi-synth says his 20 year old car runs better, but as he changes the oil once every 3 years I suspect he's simply forgotten what new oil feels like.

The Nova accelerated like a rocket on Comma enhanced, but the Quartz 5000 is better at sustained high speed. Weird stuff Total, but it is French isn't it? lOl
I now also add 8% Wynns additive anyway cos my car has a hard life. Wynns does seem to do what it says on the tin! ;)

Just been donated a large carton of Castrol GTX by 'a legendary' chap so will see how that runs next. 8-)

I run my Ulysses on Repsol 20-50 and it seems to run cooler.

Used to run my old shovel on GTX/ Duckhams etc with a can of Wynns on the recommendation of "someone in the know" at the time, although it was designed to run on SAE 30/40 /50 depending on time of year.
