Hi guys went to take my x1 out on saturday for the newmarkrt run and noticed all this dark thin oil under my bike seems to be comin from the shock absorber i recon my rear shock has shit its self i need some advice on what to do next really can i get it rebuilt or is it lots of money and new shock time ? My bike is a x1 lightning 2001 y reg . cheers

Treat this as an opportunity. One thing about Buells is that they handle very well despite the basic suspension fitted to them. Don't waste your time getting your shock rebuilt (they're not designed to be - despite what some rebuilders claim) I've been down that route, and the shock was just as crap afterwards :roll:

Buy a AST shock off Ronnie, it's the best thing you can bolt onto a Buell. You'll be amazed at how well they work :yup:

Cheers Adam you sound like you know your stuff , I actually work for a tvr engineering company and we fit ast fully adjustables to all our cars maybe I'll try chat them up for a discount ;-) . How was newmarket doo ? Gutted i missed it would of been a great opportunity to meet some of you folks in person and to show of my bike too .

Went shock hunting over the last few days found a second hand works shock on ebay from US $400 , a guy on ebay brooks suspension says he will repair it for £150 with no warranty ?!? Wtf , spoke to Curtis from AST £500+vatplus a 3week build time or could get it from holland for €650 -25% , ohlins and penske are all way to much , twin motorcycles make there own shock for €580 plus €20 postage , went to a Harley dealership they were useless lol . Buells are fuckin hard wo :headbang: rk and expensive !

Keep us posted :yup: I think I'll have to go that route in the future.

Expensive ain't the word when it comes to these bikes!

As for the HD dealers, the one over here couldn't even sell me the correct oil filter :roll:
