Great start to the sunny days. I take my Ully out and it pops a fork seal.
It's also had an intermittent running fault which has just become a permanent running fault.
When starting from cold it fires up as normal but needs to be kept at 2000 rpm to keep it running.
Even at 2000rpm and above it is popping and spluttering, after ten minutes it then starts to clear but will only run smoothly while accelerating.
If you try to run it at 30mph at around 1800 to 2500rpm it hunts and misses until you just give it enough to be accelerating.
I think it maybe the temperature transmitter so I have one order with BB but at nearly £90 it a chancy thing to do.
Can any of you give me any advice please

Ps Paul no I don't need to get an S1 so I don't have a transmitter before you suggest it!

If it is a failing temperature sensor, a log file recorded with ecmspy would show this very clearly.
As you mentioned the error had been intermittend first: Ulysses are also prone to get a defective ECM board when the ECM is loaded.

So I may be barking up the right tree by the sounds of things!!

I also have an X1 does anyone know if the sensors are the same if so I will swap them and see.
I also have a spare fork seal for the X 1 does anyone know if they are the same?

That was my first thought Pash I have sprayed some easy start around the motor when running and it does change so probably not pulling any unwanted air in, a good call though

AFAIK yes. The connectors changed from bullet to packard style some time ago, but I do not remember when.

If easy start sprayed around the intake seals Does change the engine note then that indicates that the seals ARE leaking.

Not sure what you mean by the above statement.
I did put it onto ECM spy but I am not sure I am connected properly.
I get to the got com port box and I can carry out the tests on the fan, fuel pump and rev counter etc.
When I go to read the fault codes it says there are no historic or current codes.

I realise this Kev but my iPad does a little prediction for me it should have said doesn't change

I guessed you'd meant didn't but just making sure mate ..... with ref to the codes ecmspy is saying there are no codes recorded ....head temp sensors are notorious for having problems that affect running but don't trigger a code ....... logging would show it up though .

Pre 08 Uly are 43
08 and y'on are 47

Look at the live data when plugged into ECMSpy, the temperature should be hot and stable when up to temperature.

Yeah there was a block mounted at the side of the ECM to take the pressure of the seat. You can also cut a chunk out of the plastic under the seat so the ECM will be tickled by sponge instead.

I thought the quick way around this would be to swap the sensors over X1 to Ully and vice versa.
What a bitch to get the sensors out, there down a tunnel and as they have a long wire attached you can't put a socket on it.
I am going to cut and weld a box spanner so the ring is at a right angle, but I am not sure it's gonna work!
I bet there is an HD tool for this
