I don't see the point in making it 80% size. Why not just build it to full size?!!

There's a nice 9 cylinder radial engine on ebay that I'd like, just to play with :)
Wish I could think of something to put it in . An air boat maybe... Mmmm not many swamps in Mallorca. :?

Was thinking exactly the same as you Garry ie. why not build it full size, Spitfire is an icon and only an airfix model should be out of scale IMO.

I may well be wrong about this aircraft, but a lot of classic kit planes are built to scale because of the CAA rule book has stuff about overall weight and wing loading. Builders can then sometimes get their projects on a 'Permit to Fly' rather than a COA. This means you can fully maintain your aircraft youself. If it's on a COA, then you can only do stuff like check oil, blow up tyres etc :?


The French? used to make a 2/5 size Spitfire kit with a Jag V12 up front. They called it a 'ROBIN' :roll: lOl
