Got all the screws out...trigger removed gasket face is lose but refuses to budge further
What am I missing please?

Have you positioned the engine correctly IE TDC and removed the rocker assembly to take the pressure off the cams? .....If not resecure the cover and follow the correct procedure or you will damage the cam bushings probably beyond repair .

Engine internals in near unmarked perfect condition slight signs of early wear on worm drive.
35000mls...must be the frequent oil changes...engine does get used
