Already made two mistakes, will have to go back and update the analysis cos I put the wrong graph in at the top. The other mistake was the one Gunter hauled me up on :oooops:

Note that this analysis is being done remotely, if Maz (or anyone that knew their salt) had seen the bike in the flesh, they would have probably been able to get to root cause quicker than me by:

* listening to the engine as it falls back to idle
* checking the TPS deg at idle
* taking the gas cap off
* playing a propane feed around the seals
* testing the fuel pump

And other troubleshooting or investigation techniques that I do no have the experience to know, if at all needed...

My best guess: O2 sensor ... stuck at 0.3 volts

Question is, why is it at 0.3V?

I would have said this was an effect rather than a cause. The DDFI isn't closed loop at idle IIRC, hence it should tick over with a 5 deg TPS.

Of course another cause could be a loose rear spark plug.

I don't know. Broken O2 sensors apparently tend to stick at a high or a low voltage. Why and when they do this or that - no idea.

I would say it is measuring a lean mixture, but it would be easy to check by swapping it out (very easy on an X1), or disconnecting it.

No air leak could be so large, to compensate for an AFV of 127 and an EGO corr. between that and 149. And the few spikes indicating a rich mixture are erratic also, because they appear in an overrun condition, where the mixture is commonly measured as lean.

So, disconnecting the O2 sensor should send us to the base maps, and assuming no further issues with the bike, the engine should tick over at 5 deg TPS.

That's always worth a try. Can't run much worse.

Really appreciate the effort and time you two gents have put in and will try all pash's suggestions this weekend. To answer one of the questions earlier yes the bike will run ok at wide open. Am I right in assuming tps should always be done with the engine cold? As I have noticed a difference whe n the engine is warm regards the value.

TPS reset is better done warm, but I don't think there is snuthjng wrong with your TPS reset just that your tickover screw is far too far in to compensate for another issue...

Morning Nick. The reason I ask is that I have been doing it from cold and when I check after its run for a while it seems to have climbed to a value of about 8. We will see what this weekend's efforts bring :yup: Would a video from the phone help at all?
