I hope you are not having the same probs as me, My version of Ecm Spy is W*nk, it will not connect or infact do any sh1t. Gunter has been very unhelpful, bordering on useless. The donation is a good thing, but am am not a happy man at the moment and as with you all I need is a Tps reset. Dont get rid though, it can be sorted.

How far can you get Buddah?

When you plug your cable in, can you see it in Device Manager?
What is the com port number?
When you power up ECMSpy, can you find the Com port?
Has the cable ever worked with ECMSpy before?
Is it a Prolific or FTDI?
Have you tried a loop back test?

Quote:
jumper the TX and RX lines, open hyper terminal and start a new session with 9600 bps, 8-n-1 (8 bits, no parity, one stop bit), flow control set to none. If the cable is working in this loopback mode, when you type you will get characters on the screen. If not working you will not get characters.

More info here:

http://intashield.com/downloads/HyperTe ... 20Test.pdf

That will test to see if your cable is functional, however some Prolific cables will communicate with earlier ECMs only, not enough current (however small) to drive the comms.

It is unlikely to be a software issue and Gunter cannot be held responsible for a badly configured computer nor malfunctioning cable...

I asked you to send me the debug log. You told me, it does not exist, but I know, it should exist and asked you to let Windows search for it. Until now, I did not get the log file. I can't proceed without the log file, because, very unfortunately, my crystal ball is broken and then only the debug log tells me what might be wrong. It's as simple as that.

First of all, My apologies to Gunter for my rant, (no offence intended). I did as you suggested and followed Q5, and yes I found the log, but you did say follow Q5 so I deleted it. It made no difference.

Right. I followed the download and registry instructions. When I open spy there is for a split second a black screen, then spy opens. If I try to connect it just closes, crashes or whatever. It does not see anything, com ports, ecm, lead, me nothing. I have re-installed, even uninstalled avast(firewall) in case that affected the download, then done it all again, done a compatibility thingy, no change.

I build race winning frames, this involves machining ,welding and shaping of metal. Computers are strange thing that try to think for me. So I dont understand Comp-speak much so treat me as a dum-ass and we might get somewhere, and maybe the other guys can get there probs sorted.

Have you got the correct version of Mono installed? I think it needs 2.6.1.

I am sure the log file will identify the problem.

Ok. the Mono version is 2.6.7 not 2.6.1. Is this a problem?

No, I'm using the same version.

Your key is invalid. You will have to activate again with the new key. Have you deinstalled EcmSpy after it did not work as expected?

well there is an easier way than using ecmspy !! junk the injection system and fit a mikuni hsr45 and then could order a alloy manta not having to worry about a fuel pump...i just prefer things to be simple to maintain and service..

Struth!! Its a load easier building a frame than getting this poxy computer working.

Injection is way better than Carbs though. Just my opinion.
