This is getting interesting. What's your plan for the final result, or are you just gonna grind it n'see?
Either way, I am looking 4ward to the next instalment.
Hi NightCruiser... a mate of mine has done a couple of Buell front end conversions using Ducati Monster USDs. ( using the buell yokes , milled out ) , so I picked up, said USDs, twin brembo discs, calipers and a wheel on fleabay ( selling on the original Cyclone front end , less yokes also on tweebay ) .
I was going to look at a X1 rear sub frame conversion ( you can see it behind the above spark shower in the garden shed ) but got influenced by a Ducati rear subframe conversion that I had seen. I got the Ducati frame on ebay last month for about £50, plus a tail unit and seat. ( having resold the X1 frame and seat back on baytube ) Frame got tack welded up last week for design angles and lines before going into a pro welding shop next week. Then dry build can begin.
Just got the wheels back last week from the powdercoaters. You can see the brembo twin discs on the front wheel ( complete with titanium fasteners from feebay ) . Some more grinding will be required to the caliper carrier as Buell yokes are narrower centres. But I should imagine there will be more head scratching as it develops. In any event it is Ducati fore and aft and Buell in the core - a Bucati : )
