I originally planned to participate a few days in the second half of next week, but seemingly I'm not gonna make it. The engine started to burn oil like crazy, so I would have to take at least a gallon of oil with me, and I do not trust the bike also. Therefore - I'm really sorry to miss this event (and Lauwe too), but apparently, for some reason, it was not to be. It's a pity, because it would have been great to meet you all again.

:( Gunter - that's a shame, we were looking forwards to meeting up with you again. Maybe next year?

BTW - your ECMSpy contribution to Em's Charity is now over £16,000 :worthy: ...

Well that was a fantastic week 8-) starting off with a few beers with Roz and Tony last fri night then the bbq at lauwe sat evening followed by a great evening with Marnic and Karen sunday before Ronnie and i set off across Belgium Monday morning to meet up with CJ and Jane in the Ardennes 8-)
The hotel we'd booked about 6 miles from CJ and just over the border in Germany was fantastic and well recommended 8-) We had a tour along the Mosel on Tuesday then Wed me and Ronnie had a ride into Luxembourg while CJ and Jane went walking. Thursday was spent touring the second world war museums and was the only day we had any rain but that only lasted for less than an hour. Fri was spend travelling home and was the only day we touched any motorways and we dropped into Ypres for lunch to find the centre was the paddock for the WRC rally 8-)
The CR ran fantastic two up all week and fully loaded with luggage for 2/3rds of the mileage but still averaged 42mpg + a million smiles per gallon 8-) Did a total of about 1500 miles without missing a beat 8-)

Wot Kev said - we've had a brilliant 7 days away riding great roads (and some not so great :?) in spectacular scenery. Being able to share the experience with Kev and Ronnie was an added bonus. Our hostel accommodation was spot on and we even had our own garage. Very biker friendly and we can recommend it for visiting the Ardennes and Eifel Mountains.

We covered a total of 1,398 miles and both bikes ran faultlessly. I didn't take many pictures but here's a few....

I think the photos are deceiving lOl as it's the same pack on all 3 pics but looks far smaller with us sat on the bike lOl The bike handled a dream fully loaded I just gave it 2 more clicks on the preload at the rear and 2 on the compression damping from the standard one up setting for me , the roads in Europe are just as bad if not worse than the uk for potholes and bad surfaces though, we came across some horrendous sections including one on a duel carriageway where there was a narrow repair strip right across both lanes which we hit at 70 MPH and I thought had maybe flattened the rear wheel rim we hit it so hard :o it must have stuck up 2"

We stayed here Gunter , Haus Hubertus at Winterspelt and would definitely stay there again reasonably priced and very clean and modern. Good strong wifi which was handy for keeping in touch back home as I struggled with phone signal all week although Ronnie on her cheaper phone and also on 02 had no problems with hers. It was only about 10 Km from where CJ and Jane were staying at St Vith .

Thanks a lot. Good to know there's a nice place to stay. Until now all I knew about Winterspelt was only that it is an exit from the A60 :D
