It has only taken me 10 years to get my #rse up to the UKBEG main event at East Kirkby, so in order to maximise our experience, I have contacted the curator of the museum at RAF Scampton to arrange a visit.

This is set for 11.00am on Sunday 21st. They require numbers, so if anyone would like to join us, please let it be known here or PM me.

I will hold off replying to the musuem untill Mr & Mrs CJ have returned to our shores, as they may wish to include their Italian mounted friends.

Please Note:

If you plan to visit the Museum we ask that you please bring with you a valid Photo ID e.g. driving licence or passport

Steve - this is an excellent idea and many thanks for putting it together, it will be a great way to round off our Em's Day weekend. You can count us two in and I'll see if anyone from the Italian clubs would like to join us.

I should have some firm idea of numbers for you in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

I have a good chance to be at Emm's day this year and a good Scampton after would be ideal. I'm in Arnhem at the moment staying on a real funky houseboat. http://www.drijfpaleis.nl/
Very touching to see the stuff about the sacrifices made in Sept 1944 by the Paras over here. My uncle was one of them (luckily a survivor) I wonder if the lads smoking dope round the memorials really know what price freedom really is.

Steve - I think we can work on a figure of 10 to 15 people with approx. 10 motorcycles plus 2 or 3 cars for the RAF Scampton visit.

How are you all booked in as Dusty? I emailed Mervyn but he doesn't have the UKBEG as down as coming?

A big thanks to Dusty for arranging this very very interesting visit 8-) I never even knew Scampton had a museum before this and we had 3 hours of looking around and hearing some very interesting stories ... we all turned down the chance to sit in Guy gibsons chair though as we all felt we were not deserving of that. Big thanks from me and Ronnie 8-)

Yesterday's visit to RAF Scampton just rounded the weekend off nicely - thanks to Steve and Rita for organising it. We had a guided tour of the base which lasted 3 hours and we even got to visit Guy Gibson's office, 617 Squadrons hanger and pay our respects to Guy's dog, Nigger. It was a fascinating and memorable visit.

Left to right, Ronnie, Kev, CJ, Rita, Steve and Jane...
