Snot just Buells, H-D parts are going the same way (voes is a H-D part)......everything seems to either double in price on an almost weekly basis, on back order for ever, or no longer available......try running a business having to deal with this shite on a daily basis :x

Just been quoted £340 for a GEN U WINE Buell Front disc by Riders Bristol, found a pattern one for £160.
Why ?
Is the Buell one made from special steel, hand rolled by Filipino Virgins ( rare....) under water or something?
Don't get it.

Tings be no different in the States. We (in the formerly great United States) have a President and his counterparts determined to drive our economy downward at terminal velocity. Those of us that still support the economy (the ones that actually work and are NOT on the public tit) are FAST being outnumbered by those who only vote for a living. Fortunately, for us who love obsolete motorcycles, we tend to be creative enough to either find a suitable substitute for a needed part or make our own. This is the entrepreneurial spirit that will allow the "Phoenix" to arise from the ashes (so to speak).

Was Erik shat on or was the Buell arm woefully unprofitable?

My 1125 cost £4500 new (a week before Buell ceased production), it had a number of recalls:

Oil jet in the gearbox
Front brake hose
ECM reflash
And more stuff that I have forgotten about

Plus a new front disc. I didn't have it long enough for a fix to the clutch.

That 4500 price included:

Bike
Transport to the UK
Dealer profit
Registration
First service
Dealer hours for the recalls
Dealer hours for warranty

How did Buell ever make a profit on that?

There are other people on this forum who had their 1125s in and out of the dealers with problems for the first two years. Who was paying the dealers to fix them?

And wasn't the S1 the vehicle with the highest number of recalls ever?

A question I've asked as well. I had several discussions on this subject with Ali, the former owner (with Vince) of Alvins in Edinburgh... he went bust. Though, to be fair, there was more to it than that.

Yeah, I topped it up with recalls and warranty claims on the S1, Firebolt and Uly...

I read somewhere that if you don't keep up with the recalls, your insurance could give you problems in the event of a claim...
