To get more oil to the big end, why can't you just increase the orifice size at the pinion end of the crank? Do you need more oil? I thought the big problem was that Grumbly's oil pump gear failed...

If you are concerned about weight, why are you going for adjustable pushrods? What is the weight of the tappets preventing you from doing? Only from increasing the speed at which valve bounce occurs. And the 497s you are fitting have a lower max acceleration than the 556s you are removing which makes mass tolerance greater...

Only asking by the way, I am sure you guys are on top of it...

nick you REALY need to spend a day with brain, the valve train has weight ,it needs controlling.the lighter you can make the vavle train.....you can reduce spring rate ,,,,,,this releases HP and lets the engine spin up qucker ...YOU know all this shit ,i dont think useing adjustable push rods with brians own light weight lifters is gonna weight the same as the standerd set up FFS ,,,,,,the fuking lifters weight a QUATER OF A FUKING POUND .....124 grams........

ok willy understand the weight issue and it takes energy to get things moving and stopped again :yup: , but what is the ultimate goal / purpose of all this tuning :?: , and if weight or power to weight is an issue when are you going on a diet :ner: :4roz:

OOOO K,pash here we go lightend crank to help grumbly spin up quicker :yup: ..........non permnant magnet altinater .this WILL ade cranking,as there is some effort needed / power lost just overcomeing the permanat magnet altinator :yup: valve spring pressure saps power, slows engine spin up time ,so the lighter the better ,hence reducing valve train weight ,lifters FAR too heavy ...nick adjustable push rods will be heaveier than STD ones without oil in them ....the top end is feed oil through the lifters then the push rods (how much do they weight full of oil  ),..497 cams give FAB torque from 3500 in grumbly 2 with a 1200 motor so were hopefull they will work WELL in a 984 motor ,........lubricating the top end via the scavenge side of the pump,BSA have done this for years ,......now the oil thats no longer needed to lube the top end from the pump can now be used to feed the big end via opening the restriction up in the end of the crank / lower running temp in the big end as MORE oil is flowing through it :yup: the grey area is the oil jets inside the crank cases fireing oil to the underside of the pistons ....oooa it might all go badly wrong :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ...its all very exciting :D :D :D :D ,there will not be that many pics sadly and this will take a LOT o time to come together :yup: :D

Don't forget that excess oil causes drag - and that robs power, remember that when you are spraying oil everywhere ...

......especially as you intend to use the scavenge to provide aerated lube to the top end :? ......exactly how you're gonna do this is beyond me as you'd at least have to fit a restrictor into the circuit to get enough 'pressure'/flow to feed the rocker bushes......Buells have enough issues scavenging their sump, heads and camcase as it is without return oil being cycled back into the cases before they've made it to the tank
